30th Annual Cross Country Summary of Results

30 years of QGSSSA Cross Country was celebrated by thousands who attended Saturday’s meet at Rivermount College.

The cool and dry temperatures ensured favourable conditions for the 901 runners competing across six age groups.

The first race of the day saw current Australian World Junior Athletics representative, Lara Crouch (St Margaret’s), sprint to the lead early in the 17 Years and Over race, crossing the line in 10 minutes 34 seconds. St Aidan’s Nina Brown and Brisbane State High School’s Olivia Bosnjak finished  a minute behind in second and third place respectively.

St Margaret’s Isabella Harte took the second win for her school for the day, winning the 13 Years race while St Peters Lutheran College’s Gabby Schmidt won the 12 Years and Under race.

Brisbane State High enjoyed a successful day with students Keira Moore, Emma Hossack and Nikita Moore winning the 14 Year, 15 Years and 16 Years events respectively, and also taking home the 14 Years, 15 Years, 16 Years and 17 Years & Over Age Pennants. Their day culminated with the school winning the Association Cup, overall aggregate winner.

Brisbane Girls Grammar School won the 12 Years & Under Age Pennant with Moreton Bay College collecting the 13 Years.

St Aidan’s Anglican Girls’ School were again highly consistent winning the overall Joan Benson Percentage Shield ahead of St Margaret’s and Moreton Bay College. The percentage shield is calculated using the school population against their aggregate results.
