QGSSSA Artistic Gymnastics Event Results

260 gymnasts represented their schools at the recent 53rd Annual QGSSSA Artistic Gymnastics meet.

Girls competed in floor, vault, beam and uneven bars, across six divisions, at the end of Term 1 competition.

Host school Clayfield College had one of their most successful years yet, winning the Open, A, B and C Grade competitions.

The Open event was a highlight with some outstanding routines executed by the girls and thrilling the audience.

Clayfield College’s Madison Thompson achieved the highest scores on both Vault (9.800) and Floor (9.825), Alice Zhu (BGGS) achieved 9.650 on Beam, while three gymnasts (Ava Kinnane [CC], Kirsten Burger and Mikayla Clark [MBC]) tied for the top score of 9.700 on Uneven Bars.

Somerville House were victorious in taking out D Grade (i) while St Margaret’s Anglican Girls School were successful in winning D Grade (ii) and Year 7 (i). Brisbane Girls Grammar School won Year 7 (ii) to round out the eight pennant winners.

It is wonderful to see two ex-QGSSSA gymnasts will be competing at the upcoming Gold Coast Commonwealth Games – we wish Georgia-Rose Brown and Georgia Godwin all the best for their competition.
