QG Rep Teams’ Interstate Challenge

QGSSSA’s representative Netball and Football teams have returned from Melbourne following the weekend-long Interstate Challenge.

The gruelling schedule of multiple games saw the QG girls rise to the challenge and unite to represent the Association with pride.

Girls Grammar’s Chelsea Windsor lead the Netballers while Somerville House’s Ellie Balev lead the inaugural Football team.

All girls performed admirably with the Footballers finishing third overall and the Netballers fifth.

In their first championship, the QG Football girls defeated reigning champions Girls Sport Victoria 4-1 in their very first match together, an incredible feat.

They went on to defeat South Australia’s IGSSA but went down to the strong NSW teams, IGSSA and ISA.

The Netballers improved their skills, execution and teamwork throughout the carnival and can be very proud of their performance.

It was wonderful to have so many families travel south to watch the girls. Their support and encouragement was greatly appreciated.

In 2017, QGSSSA will host the Interstate Challenge in Brisbane. Nominations for teams will open in February 2017.
