A stunning autumn’s day at the picturesque Rivermount College set the scene for the 31st annual QGSSSA Cross Country Championships Saturday.
950 girls competed across the six age divisions while thousands of spectators and supporters turned out to cheer on daughters and friends competing.
Brisbane State High School were again victorious for a sixth year running, winning the overall Association Cup aggregate trophy ahead of St Peters Lutheran College (2nd) and Brisbane Girls Grammar School (3rd).
State High students and sisters, Nikita and Keira Moore, won their respective races (17 Years & Over and 15 Years); the second successive year for Keira and third for Nikita.
St Aidan’s Anglican Girls’ School also continued their strong Cross Country form winning the Joan Benson Shield for the fourth year running, ahead of Moreton Bay College (2nd) and St Margaret’s Anglican Girls School (3rd).
St Margaret’s strong contingent of runners took out three of the six race victories with Chloe Fenwicke (16 Years), Isabella Harte (14 Years) and Milla Roberts (12 Year & Under) winning their respective races.
St Peters Lutheran College’s Gabrielle Schmidt was the other race winner, taking out the 13 Years race. The College enjoyed it’s highest overall Cross Country placing in years, and also took out the 17 Years & Over age pennant.
State High won the 13, 15 and 16 Years age pennants while Moreton Bay College won the 14 Years and Brisbane Girls Grammar School won 12 Years & Under.
