PARTNERSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT
Monday, 27 February 2023
The Queensland Girls Secondary Schools Sports Association (QGSSSA) is proud to announce a partnership with the Brisbane Metropolitan Touch Association (BMTA) in our 115th year. The partnership will see QGSSSA Touch Football fixtured regularly at Whites Hill Reserve for the Autumn Fixture season, support with referee appointments and cross marketing for both Associations.
The QGSSSA aims to be the leading secondary schoolgirls sports association and a passionate promoter and advocate for young women in sport. To achieve this aim, the Association provides a suite of innovative, targeted, high-quality sports programs for member schools that encourages participation and elite performances in respectful, safe and healthy environments. BMTA is Australia’s largest touch football affiliate, with nearly 10,000 annual members and their home of Whites Hill Reserve is Brisbane’s only dedicated touch football facility encompassing 7 high-quality playing fields, a brand new $4.33 million clubhouse, regional standard LED lighting and a new café open to the public five days per week.
Whites Hill Reserve will also be the central venue for six schools for our Round 9 Reconciliation Round Touch Football celebration. BMTA will come to life with 62 touch football teams and reconciliation celebrations as the Association recognises National Reconciliation Week on Friday, 26 May. The theme for National Reconciliation Week 2023, Be a Voice for Generations, encourages all Australians to be a voice for reconciliation in tangible ways in our everyday lives – where we live, work, and socialise.
In 2023, BMTA is celebrating their 50th anniversary and along with being the home of QGSSSA Touch Football, BMTA will host the Australian Emus for two large international events, the Opens Trans-Tasman in April and Pacific Youth Touch Cup in May showcasing the best players in the world, right here in Brisbane.
The QGSSSA touch football season commences Friday, 10 March as part of the Autumn Fixture season.
