Track & Field at QGSSSA

Track & Field has been a centrepiece of QGSSSA sport since 1918, showcasing the determination, skill and athleticism of student-athletes in one of the most prestigious events of the year.

Pre-Season Meets

The QGSSSA is proud to partner with Impi Sportswear to present the Impi Sportswear Ignition Series, a six-week competitive pre-season designed to help athletes refine their skills and compete for selection in their school’s highly coveted Track & Field team. The series allows students to sample events, gain race experience and elevate their training ahead of the QGSSSA Track & Field Championships.

  • Meet 1: Friday, 8 August – State Athletics Facility & UQ Athletics Centre
  • Meet 2: Friday, 15 August – State Athletics Facility & UQ Athletics Centre

Track & Field Championships

The QGSSSA Track & Field Championships is one of the most prestigious events on the calendar, bringing together elite student-athletes to compete for school glory and team success.

First held in 1918, this historic competition has built a legacy of strength, speed and resilience, with competitors pushing the limits to achieve their best performances.

The Stephens Cup

One of the most highly coveted trophies in QGSSSA sport, The Stephens Cup is awarded to the aggregate championship school, celebrating outstanding overall performance and school pride.

The Del Mellefont Percentage Cup

A recognition of exceptional performance relative to school size, The Del Mellefont Percentage Cup is awarded to the school that makes the biggest impact through sheer determination. The award is calculated on a percentage point based on total secondary female enrollments. The winner of the Stephens Cup is not eligible for this award.
