The QGSSSA was founded in 1908 by Brisbane Girls Grammar School, Somerville House and St Margaret’s Anglican Girls School, whose principals sought to formalise interschool sporting competitions.

Today, the QGSSSA proudly consists of 10 member schools, spanning Brisbane, Ipswich and the Gold Coast. In 2025, QGSSSA celebrates 117 years of girls in sport, honouring a rich history of athletic excellence, teamwork and opportunity.

For generations, the QGSSSA has provided young women with a platform to begin their sporting journey, fostering a lifelong love of physical activity and paving the way for future sporting success.
