Badminton at QGSSSA
Badminton has been an official QGSSSA sport since 1999, challenging athletes to master rapid reflexes, sharp footwork and strategic play.
With more than 150 teams competing, QGSSSA Badminton brings together students from across the Association for fast-paced competition where every rally counts. Competing in doubles combinations, athletes showcase their technical skill, communication and mental agility as they battle it out on court.
Competition Format
QGSSSA Badminton is a fast-paced team competition featuring Open, Senior, Year 10, Year 9, Year 8 and Year 7 grades, with divisions determined by the number of nominations from member schools.
Each team can include up to eight players, with athletes ranked into two seeded doubles pairs. Every fixture consists of two doubles games, giving teams multiple opportunities to earn valuable competition points.
In the Open grade, matches are played to 31 points, while Senior, Year 10 and Year 9 matches are played to 31 points with a 12-minute time limit. Year 8 and Year 7 matches are played to 21 points with a 10-minute time limit, keeping the action moving from one round to the next.
With rapid rallies, strategic doubles play and points hard-earned from every fixture, QGSSSA Badminton delivers a thrilling day of competition where teamwork, skill and consistency can make all the difference.
