State High and St Aidan’s Retain Cross Country Titles

The Association Cup and the Joan Benson Shield will stay firmly in the hands of reigning QG Cross Country champions Brisbane State High School and St Aidan’s Anglican Girls’ School after Saturday’s event.

The 29th annual QGSSSA Cross Country saw some wonderful team and individual results in the bright sunshine of Rivermount College.

The 17 Years and Over girls’ race was a highlight and provided an exciting start to the day with current World Schools Cross Country individual champion Katrina Robinson (BSHS), current World Schools Cross Country champion school St Margaret’s AGS, and current U18 Australian 3000m champion Montanna McAvoy (IGGS).

Robinson held off McAvoy to finish in first, with St Margaret’s Lucinda Crouch in third.

The following races were equally as exciting with the following girls winning their race:
– 12 Years & Under: Millie Hunt (BGGS)
– 13 Years: Amy Partridge (IGGS)
– 14 Years: Emma Hossack (BSHS)
– 15 Years: Nikita Moore (BSHS)
– 16 Years: Lara Crouch (St Margaret’s AGS)

Aggregrate points were collated and the Association Cup was awarded to State High, with Brisbane Girls Grammar just behind in second and St Aidan’s AGS third.

St Aidan’s in turn won the Joan Benson Percentage Shield ahead of St Margaret’s AGS and Ipswich Girls Grammar in third.

The Association looks forward to the 30th annual event at Rivermount College in 2018 on Saturday 12th May.
