A total of 93 teams competed recently at the 40th Annual QGSSSA Rhythmic Gymnastics event at Moreton Bay College.
The event started with the Year 7 competition, this year competing in Rope as their apparatus. 22 teams vied for three pennants, with Brisbane Girls Grammar School and Moreton Bay College scoring a rare tie for first in Division One. MBC’s second team took out the second division while BGGS took out the third.
Host school MBC proved too strong again in A and B Grades, finishing ahead of BGGS and Brisbane State High School in A, and by just 0.05 points ahead of St Hilda’s in B.
The Open Pairs and Open Group competitions are always a spectacle to watch and it was no exception this year with State High winning the Open Group while MBC won the Pairs competition.
The day was highlighted by a performance by QGSSSA alumni Zoe Ormrod, a past student of BGGS and MBC. Zoe’s performance with the ball wowed spectators and we wish her well at the upcoming World University Games in Taipei later this month.
