The 2026 QGSSSA athletics season has officially launched, with the IMPI Sportswear Ignition Series bringing energy, excitement and plenty of opportunities for our athletes to shine across the first two meets of the season.

The series commenced on Friday 7 August with our first split meet, with athletes competing across QSAC and the State Athletics Facility (SAF). Nine QGSSSA schools came together to launch the athletics season, with the IMPI Sportswear Pop-Up Store trackside and a popular bedazzling station adding to the atmosphere.

The split meet format is designed to give schools the opportunity to bring as many students as possible to compete. With no limits on the number of track and fiends events students can enter, the meets provide the perfect opportunity for athletes to try something new, sample different events and discover where their strengths and interests lie. Whether a student is an experienced athlete or stepping onto the track or into the field for the first time, the Ignition Series creates a welcoming environment to get involved and have a go.
