Our Commitment to Governance

The QGSSSA is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of governance and integrity in girls’ sport. Our policies and guidelines ensure fairness, safety and inclusivity across all sporting competitions and events.

We are committed to providing a structured and transparent framework that upholds the values of equity, respect and sportsmanship, ensuring all athletes, coaches and schools compete in a safe and supportive environment.

QGSSSA By-Laws & Workbooks

The QGSSSA By-Laws outline the rules and regulations for all QGSSSA sports, including general team rules and governance.

To make sport-specific information more accessible, the By-Laws have been broken down into Workbooks for each individual sport.

This information should not be read in isolation. It should be considered alongside the QGSSSA Constitution, all applicable areas of the QGSSSA By-Laws, sport-specific manuals and official QGSSSA bulletins to ensure a complete understanding of competition rules and governance.

Our Commitment to Child Safety and Wellbeing

The Queensland Girls’ Secondary Schools Sports Association (QGSSSA) is committed to the safety, wellbeing and empowerment of every child and young person who participates in our competitions, programs and events.

QGSSSA supports the requirements of the Child Safe Organisations Act 2024 (Qld) and is committed to implementing the Queensland Child Safe Standards and the Universal Principle for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Safety.

We believe sport should always be a safe, inclusive and positive environment where girls and young people can thrive. QGSSSA has zero tolerance for child abuse, harm, grooming or neglect in any form.

We work in partnership with our member schools to:

  • prioritise the safety and wellbeing of students in all QGSSSA activities
  • listen to and empower students and support their right to be heard
  • promote inclusive and culturally safe sporting environments
  • ensure staff, volunteers and officials uphold clear child safe behaviours
  • educate students about their rights and where they can seek help
  • maintain effective processes for responding to concerns or complaints

Child safety is everyone’s responsibility. QGSSSA is committed to continually listening, learning and improving to ensure all students feel safe, respected and supported in school sport.
